Psycho Killer!

Dear Friends and Family,

Well, first off, I’m alive! So right there, we have that going for us. I’m currently blitzed out on meds so bear with me.

After some delays yesterday, including a side-trip to the sonogrammist to make sure the big lump in my leg is in fact scar tissue and not a giant blood clot (That’s what I get for mentioning it!) we got our surgery on! They put in an epidural, but because I wasn’t giving birth, they were able to numb me up bit first. Which is good, because I am a complete wuss when it comes to needles. Kristin was by my side right up until they wheeled me in to the OR. I don’t remember much past that…

As expected, the cancer in my lung was a metastasis of the sarcoma in my leg.  They removed a marble sized node from my left lung as well as another suspicious dot for good measure. There were no surprises, it’s a huge relief to finally get them out.

They are sick of my jokes so they’re kicking me out today. I’m recovering quickly, down to two hoses stuck in me. Ready to get back back home to the best nurse in the world! I should be back to normal within a week… normal being a relative term.

We’ll know more in a couple weeks when we meet with our medical team to figure out what comes next.

Thank you for all your love and support, I love you individually and as a group,

– Ben

An actor trained in physical theater, living in New York City, livin' the dream. I am married to an amazing woman without whom I'd probably be dead by now, and step-dad to the irrepressible Izzy! I sculpt masks, I juggle, I act, I design graphically-type-stuff, and when offered the choice between two evils, I take the one I've never tried before. I listen, I fly planes, I bike to the beach, I am a tea brewing ninja, I design new board games with my daughter, and I tell stories... too many stories. And while I used to be trying to learn to juggle my work, living in this city, my dreams, my wife, but now I am reminded every day they are all one, all my life, and every day is one more day I get to live it.
